Our Winter Book Fair is coming!

Get ready to travel….to the Book Fair and Beyond!  Reading is Out of This World!  The Book Fair will be open from Monday 12/12 to Thursday 12/15 and located in the Music Room.  It will also be open during the evening of our Kindergarden Performance.

Holiday Caroling and Food Trucks!

It's that wonderful time of year again!  Our annual Holiday Caroling has now come home to Castle Rock.  This year, our students will be performing their Holiday Carols in the Castle Rock MPR.  Along with the great music there will be great food as 4 food trucks will be parked outside to offer delectable choices to delight all of our Castle Rock Families!  Yummmm!  The proceeds from the food trucks will also benefit our students and our school through our Castle Rock Communkity Club.

Please save the date for this special event and plan to bring your family and friends to hear all of our K-5th graders perform Holiday Carols.  Remember to bring your cameras and come hungry!

Earthquake & Emergency Kit Fundraiser

There are 5 more days left in our Earthquake and Emergency Kit Fundraiser!  Check out these must-have emergency resources in the brochure your child brought home.  Be prepared for any emergency at home, work, and even in your car.  Plus you will be helping our Castle Rock Community Club raise money for technology staff, field trip transportation, assemblies, and more.

Mixed Bag Fundraiser Happening Now

Have you checked out the great selection of eco-friendly reusable bags that are now available for order?  You should have received a brochure with a wide variety of cell phone covers, laptop/iPad cases, stationery products, totes, lunch bags, and more.  They are available in different sizes and patterns!  These would make great gift items!  This fundraiser will run for one more week with all orders due on or before Monday Oct. 31.

Castle Rock Night at Chick-Fil-A in City of Industry

Announcing Castle Rock's next Family Dining Night Out at Chick-Fil-A in City of Industry.  It will be an all-day event from 6:30am - 9:00pm next Friday October 14th, 2011.  Our school will receive 20% of the sales we bring in. In addition, the class that raises the MOST money will win an Ice Cream Party from Chik-Fil-A. So come and support our school and don't forget to bring in your flyer with your teacher's name on it. Now our Fresh & Easy Fundraiser continues with saving your receipts. Our school receives $1 for every purchase of $20 or more on one receipt. You can bring in receipts from ANY Fresh & Easy Store and it includes gift card purchase receipts. So please save your receipts and turn them in to the Fresh & Easy Box in the front office. Fresh & Easy Shopping Night

On MONDAY 10/3, Castle Rock will have a Shopping Night from 4pm to 8pm at the Fresh & Easy in the City of Walnut, on the corner of Grand & Valley.  The address is 21580 Valley Blvd, Walnut 91789.  Map

5% of sales will be donated to our school. In order receive our proceeds we need to have 5 volunteers to help bag groceries & collect receipts from 4 to 8PM.  We are looking for volunteers to help out in  one or two hour shifts.  If you are able to volunteer, please contact our coordinator Susan Mitchell at (562) 754-3086.

If you are unable to volunteer for the shifts, please still come by and do your regular grocery shopping, try some delicious samples or just say hello to the parent volunteers who will be working that evening.  Plus, here is a coupon you can use for $10 off your purchase of $50 or more (note exclusions on coupon).  Thank you for your support!

Room Parent's Meeting

Educational Fund Drive Campaign

Castle Rock's annual Educational Fund Drive Campaign is now in progress.  This is a very crucial fundraiser for our school where 100% of the money raised goes directly into our classrooms, our school, and our field trips.  Without your generous participation, our school would not be able to benefit from the following educational enrichments:
  • Technology enhancements throughout campus including a State-of-the-Art Computer Lab
  • "Meet the Masters" Fine Arts Program
  • Funding for all field trip transportation
  • And so much more!

Gently Used Clothing Drive

Have your children outgrown all their summer clothes?  Are your closets overflowing with items you no longer wear?  Well, then it's the perfect time to clean out your dressers and closets!  Castle Rock will be holding a Gently Used Clothing Drive as a fundrasier for our school.

Our 1st CRCC Meeting

Please join us for our first Castle Rock Community Club meeting for this new school year. The CRCC is volunteer-based group (much like the PTA) where the parents and families of Castle Rock students actively participate to plan and run special events, fundraise, and volunteer. Our CRCC works diligently throughout the year to support the students, families, teachers, and staff at Castle Rock.  (For more information about the role of CRCC, please click on About Us.)

Parents and family members, you are all welcome to join us at our monthly meetings. The first one will be this coming Friday September 16, 2011 at 9:00AM in Room 3 (in the kindergarden area). Please remember to always sign in first through the front office as a visitor whenever you are coming onto the school campus.

Box Top Forms for Smencils

It's Smencil time! What's a smencil? They are pencils made from recycled newspapers that have a variety of fun smells - hence the SMENCIL!

Our school collects "Boxtops for Education" as a fundraiser that goes to directly support our students. If you've been collecting your boxtop labels throughout the summer, the boxtop forms are out. Remember, the boxtops can be found on home products like ziplock products, cereals, kleenex tissue boxes, etc. Please attach 30 non-expired boxtops (please check the expiration date on each boxtop) to the form and return to your teacher. Your child will earn one smencil as a reward for each full boxtop form that they turn in. It's a fun and easy way to support our school.

Did you know that you can DOUBLE the impact of your generous donations to Castle Rock?  Many employers today have a MATCHING GIFT program that will match your donations to our school.  This would be a great opportunity to double your donation as we approach the school's Educational Fund Drive (more info on this will follow in the coming weeks).  But you can make a donation at any time to benefit the numerous enriching programs our school offers your child(ren).

2011 Fall Book Fair

Castle Rock Families:

The FALL BOOK FAIR will take place from August 29-September 2.
The hours are from 8am to 3pm, Mon through Thur and 8-12:30 on Friday. 
We will also be opened for Back-to-School Night on the 31st (Wed) from 5:30-8:30pm.

In your classrooms, you studied our nation's past, learned about the issues affecting our present, and then taught US how we can make a better future. 

Stepping outside of the classroom, you worked together as a team to help a people in need, giving a gift that is going to keep on giving.

Rockin' the Red Aprons

THANK YOU Castle Rock families, teachers, staff, and Chili's for a wonderful evening of food, friends, and fun at the last Family Night Out of the school year.

With your support, we generated $2159.00 in sales of food and beverages, which raised $330.00 for our school.  PLUS, our very own hardworking teachers and staff brought in an additional $601 in TIPS, giving us a grand total of $931!
