Castle Rock Elementary School

An International Baccalaureate School
A California Distinguished School
www.crccdb.org

August 31, 2012
Dear Castle Rock Family and Friends,

As you know, Castle Rock is one of the most desired elementary schools in Diamond Bar as a California Distinguished School and an International Baccalaureate School.  This is because our teachers, support staff, parents, and students have worked hard to make Castle Rock an award-winning, educational environment.  Unfortunately, the ability to maintain a strong instructional program for our students is becoming more challenging in these tough economic times.  Due to the state and federal economic recession, our funding has been drastically cut for the past three years. The Castle Rock community has a strong tradition of coming together to ensure the success of our children. Now we must come together to donate the funds necessary to continue our high standards. This is why we are asking for your support.

Each year the Castle Rock Community Club supplements over $55,000 to our school (not provided by our school district).  Community Club has traditionally paid for the school Technology Teacher, Meet the Masters Art Program, IB-PYP enhancements, Copier Rental and maintenance costs and transportation costs for two field trips per grade.  All these enhance our children’s experiences and give them the exceptional quality education here at Castle Rock.

Therefore, we NEED DONATIONS of AT LEAST $110 PER STUDENT on or before Monday, October 1, 2012 to offset some of these drastic cuts.  We understand that not all families can donate this amount, but others may be able to donate more.  ANY amount will be greatly appreciated.  These donations are tax deductible and will go DIRECTLY to Castle Rock.  Please make checks payable to “CRCC.”  You may also pay via credit card or ATM directly from our school’s community club website: www.crccdb.org on PayPal. PayPal will charge our school 2.97% and $0.30 per transaction.

Please continue your contributions to Castle Rock Community Club. This parent group is vital to the support of our school. If a reduction of your financial support occurs, the Community Club may need to also reduce the following programs and services for the 2012 – 2013 school year:

  • Transportation costs for Field Trips
  • Fifth Grade Exit Ceremony and Party
  • Classroom Supplies
  • Copier Maintenance: for student class work and homework
  • Fine Arts: classroom instruction, assemblies and art projects
  • Technology: computer programs and supplies
Thank you for all of your support and understanding to make Castle Rock the best possible educational environment for your child.  We CAN make a difference together.

Principal
